Google's Android Market has generated around 7% of the gross revenue of Apple's App Store, Apple Insider reports quoting an analyst at Piper Jaffray.
According to the report, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster analyzed the mobile app market using data from Apple's public announcements and an Android app discovery tool.
Munster believes Android has generated $330 million for developers compared with $4.9 billion in gross sales from Apple's App Store. Just 1.3% of Android apps have been paid, compared with 13.5% of iPhone's, the report quoted Munster as saying.
He says Apple has around 85% to 90% market share in dollars spent on mobile apps, Apple Insider report adds.
Munster still believes although Android will grow smartphone share faster than Apple, Apple is likely to maintain 70%+ share of mobile app dollars spent over the next 3-4 years.
