Euro’s Swoon Weighs on Stocks Early

The Euro breached the $1.30 mark on Wednesday, the first time it has fallen below that level in nearly a year. The drop coincided with mixed results in European bond markets, as the yields on newly issued Italian five-year bonds rose to 6.47%.

European stocks were broadly lower, and U.S. stock followed them down.

Dow futures fell 20 points to 11,875; S&P 500 futures fell 1 point to 1,219.2.

Avon Products (AVP) rose 10% after the company said that it was removing CEO Andrea Jung, who will become executive chairman. Broadcom (BRCM) rose 6.7% after issuing strong fourth quarter guidance.
