Nokia (NOK) this morning unveiled the N8, a new high-end smart phone. The N8 will ship in “select markets” in Q3, with an estimated retail price of 370 Euros, which is about $491 and change. The device is expected to ship in the U.S. shortly after global availability.
The new phone will use the new Symbian 3 operating system software, which includes multi-touch gesture support, and will include a 12 MP camera, HD video capability, free Ovi Maps, and 2D and 3D graphics. The phone also includes Qt, “a software development environment” that will allow creation of applications that will run on Symbian, Maemo and MeeGo-based devices.
Is the market jazzed? Nah, not really.
NOK is down 7 cents, or 0.6%, to $12.38.
